ADIs & PDIs

Welcome to Awards Driving School. On these pages you will find help in becoming an Approved driving Instructor ( ADI ) or a Provisional driving Instructor ( PDI ).

the ADI / PDI test is split into three parts;

First you need to have held a full driving licence for three years and be over 21yrs of age.

to otain your instructors licence you will need to retake your theory test. this is called Part 1 note you will have to pass this to a higher standard than you did in your original theory test.

The next thing you will have to do is pass your driving test again, you will need to take a test that will include driving your car in a variety of driving conditions, town driving, country road driving, dual carriageway driving and motorway driving. you will need to show a high standard of driving control with very few errors. this is called the part 2.

When you have completed both the part one & part two then you have to complete the test of instructionable ability. this is a test that will determine how you react to teaching people how to drive there are 10 preset tests that you will have to teach to a qualified examiner. this is called the part 3

Most trainee instructors can get through the part one quite easily.

There are payments required for each of the tests that are payable to the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). there is a link to the DSA on our links page that will show you the current costs for these tests.

The Part 2 part of the test will require some instruction as the test requires a higher standard of driving than the normal driving test.

The final test or Part 3 as it is called is the test of instructional ability. Awards has Instructors who can help you in passing this test we have helped lots of instructors become qualified. Our senior instructor can help with all your needs in this category.

Our prices for this work are available on request we can either work round your current work on a weekly basis pay as you learn, or go for a one payment package to include all your test fees and a block of lessons for the part 2 and a block of lessons for the part 3.

the course must be completed in no longer than 2yrs this does seem a long time but the time will start from the day you pass your part one. you will be allowed 3 attempts at the part two and three attempts at the part three. if you fail either third attempt at the part two or part three then you wiil have to wait till your two year anniversary of your part one before trying again.

Awards Driving School will be happy to assist you in any way that it can in your quest to become a fully qualified driving instructor.

Good Luck. Awards Driving School.
